Importance of Birth Control for New Moms

Being a new mom is not an easy task. Having a new baby requires patience and commitment. The hardship of being a mom starts from the time the baby is carried for nine months. The pregnancy symptoms such as nausea, swollen leg veins, headaches, swollen breast and frequent urination make it hard for a woman to carry the baby inside her. After nine months, she will experience the ordeal of laboring and giving birth. And after that, her journey as a mom will begin. The sleepless nights, exhausting taking care of the baby and the burden of having a sick baby are just few of the hardships of being a new mom. That is why it is recommended for every mom to have spacing between her children. To be able to do this, couples should talk about the right age gap for their children and the birth control method to use. This is not only for the health of the mother, but also for the future of their children.

It is very important to consult an OB-Gynecologist to check the health condition of the mother to recommend the right birth control that will work best for her. Both couple should be responsible for each body. They should consider the factors that might be affected by the birth control they had chosen such as if the mother is breastfeeding, or if the mother has certain health conditions. The mother should recover first from her previous pregnancy. Having a pregnancy right after giving birth might also affect the next pregnancy especially if the mother’s body has not yet fully recovered.
